The first step in detecting a defect is being able to see it. This may sound simple but depending on the properties of the inspected materials, large quantities of light can be required for defects to stand out. Like Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky, Dr. Schenk's Sirius Light Technology (SLT) delivers more light to the material surface than other inspection systems are capable of providing.
How does Sirius Light Technology work?
Dr. Schenk’s SLT uses ultra-bright LEDs to ensure that no defect goes unnoticed. The LEDs are arranged in illumination units that can direct the light at the material in different angles. Just as Sirius is composed of more than one star, Dr. Schenk SLT offers more than one illumination angle to illuminate defects from all perspectives. And just as the light from Sirius covers different spectral classes, SLT offers different wavelengths to reveal more defects more reliably and in greater detail.
What is the customer benefit of SLT?
SLT allows customizing the illumination to use the right amount and right kind of light to detect the defects that matter. Sirius Light Technology helps to
- increase detectability of defects
- gather more detailed information about the defects using MIDA
- improve material quality
